GOING WILDER KAISER - HOTELS & TOURIST INFORMATION

The Austrian resort of Going am Wilden Kaiser (~1800 residents) is a traditional Tirolean ski village, situated at 800 meters above the sea level, facing the beautiful Wilder Kaiser mountain chain. In the surroundings of the resort nature lovers will discover one of the most varied hiking and climbing areas of Austria, as well as the popular Ski Welt Wilder Kaiser-Brixental skiing area. The picturesque hiking trails that run along the magnificent landscape will lead one up the mountain summits, as well as into the valleys of Going’s neighboring resorts of Ellmau and Sankt Johann. Going’s surroundings are also very popular among the mountain bikers.
Another attraction of Going for the water sports lovers is the resort’s bathing lake, which waters come from Wilder Kaiser mountain. The lake is known as one of the most beautiful natural lakes in the entire Tyrol. Popular sport activities during the summer in Going include, horse riding at Hotel Stanglwirt, tennis, golf, football, etc.
The village of Going offers good range of hotels and other accommodation with warm hospitality and friendly local people who will make one’s holiday an unforgettable experience. Yet another and very popular tourist attraction here is the Handicraft Market, which has been held in the village every summer since 1987. Around one hundred craftsmen will present ancient crafts and trades which are of interest for many of the visitors.
Going Skiing Holidays
Situated in one of the largest interconnected skiing areas (the Ski-Welt) of Austria, Going provides with fantastic ski conditions, especially for beginners and intermediate skiers and snowboarders. As a part of the Ski Welt, Going has provides with access to around three hundred individual pistes not only in the resort itself but also in the nearby ski villages of Brixen in Thale, Ellmau, Scheffau and Soell.
The resort of Going has facilities for artificial snow - 84 snow cannons, covering fifty kilometers of ski slopes. There are twenty lifts which are able to transport 135100 skiers and boarders per hour.
Going Transportation
Ski weekends are very popular in Going due to the fact that it is only on less than 2 hours drive from three airports. The nearest airports include Salzburg (80 km), Innsbruck (90 km), and Munich (130 km).
By train one can get to St Johann in Tyrol, from which train station continue with bus №4024 to Going (7 kilometers), or Kufstein train station and again with bus №4024 to Going (24 kilometers).
By car via Inntalautobahn - exit Kufstein Sud, then on - B178 Soll - Ellmau and the exit to the village of Going. From Salzburg one have to take B178 federal road via Lofer - Sankt Johann and Going.
