Scheffau (Wilden Kaiser) is a very popular resort in the largest inter-connected skiing area of Austria – Ski Welt. The village is situated between Ellmau and Soell at 752 meters elevation and has1300 residents, good number of beds of all categories, quality 4 and 3 star hotels, traditional Tirolean inns, B&B's, private accommodation, rental apartments, ski chalets, as well as one youth hostel.

There are excellent snow-making facilities providing with artificial snow base 242 kilometers of ski pistes with one hundred and fifty snow cannons. The fifteen ski lifts of the resort have the huge capacity of 135100 persons per hour. Scheffau’s 3 nearby airports within 2 hours drive make family ski weekends and short vacations very popular, especially for visitors coming from Innsbruck and Munich which are just one hour away. The Austrian resort of Scheffau is also a part of the large Kitzbuheler Alpen Ski Pass - union of many ski areas offering a total of two hundred and sixty lifts!
There is only 1 beginners drag on the Ubungwiese, otherwise skiers and snowboarders have to cross the main valley road and the Weissache River to reach the base of the most lifts that link up with the Ski Welt area. The lifts are on approximately one kilometer from the Scheffau’s centee and there is a free bus service.
Intermediates will definitely enjoy both Scheffau's local ski pistes and the Ski Welt beyond, reachable via the gondola to the top of the Brandstadl Mountain. A circuit linking together over twenty red slopes is available on request from the ticket and Scheffau's tourist offices.
For the expert skiers there are 8 black runs and one of the best pistes is from the top of the Hohe Salve above the neighboring resort of Soll down through the Leukenwald. Scheffau’s local Moderer pistes is also well challenging. Scheffau's gondola takes snowboarders to the heart of Austria's biggest lift-linked skiing area. The richest manufactured snowboarding terrain is on the Höhe Salve Mount, only a couple of runs and lift rides from the top of the gondola. The skiing area provides boarders and free riders with 2 fun parks.

The nightlife in the resort is friendly and relaxing, concentrated on hotel bars. The Walthofbahn and the Stern Bar are two of the preferred and most visited places for après ski.

The nearest airports to Scheffau include these in Innsbruck, Munich and Salzburg.
By railway, one can get to Scheffau via the train stations in Kufstein, Worgl and Sankt Johann, from where to change to VVT public bus or taxi to the village of Scheffau.
By car - motorway from Munich to Kufstein, take the Kufstein-Sud exit, then on the federal road towards Felbertauern pass., around 12 kilometers to Scheffau.
