The resort of St. Johann in Pongau is located at only fifty-five kilometers south of Salzburg. It is a traditional Austrian town and the most significant shopping and tourist center in the area. Sankt Johann im Pongau has also become very popular for the scenic Liechtenstein gorge, which is open to visitors from the middle of May to the end of October, as well as for its magnificent cathedral.

St Johann - Alpendorf is located right at the center of the Salzburger Land region and is the gateway to the Amadé ski area (largest linked ski circuit in Austria), with some 860 kilometers of pistes and over 270 ski lifts! Additionally, there is just one ski pass for five top ski areas twenty-five ski resorts and twenty-two railway companies. The ski areas are Salzburger Sportwelt, Grossarltal, Gastein, Schladming-Dachstein Tauern and Hochkönigs Winterreich. Due to the very convenient location all ski areas are easily reached from St Johann in Pongau - Alpendorf.
Excellently groomed runs, efficient snow-making facilities, as well as rustic, cosy mountain huts, the majestic Gernkogel and Sonntagskogel Mountains are the highlights for the skiing lovers. Additionally, an established tank on the Hirschkogel with around 30000 cub. m. of water guarantees the excellent snow conditions in Alpendorf. Ski lifts take one from the village at 600 meters elevation to the popular ski mountain of St. Johann in Pongau at 1200 meters, where is also a floodlit sled run.
