Maria Alm is a picturesque cozy village with some splendid views over the impressive Alpine peaks of Hochkonig and Steinernes Meer (Stone Sea), situated at 800 meters elevation. Not far away from the famous resort of Zell am See, in the Hochkönig - Skischaukel area, Maria Alm is one of the nicest villages in Austria. Maria Alm at Steinernen Meer is part of a great circuit of ski resorts, including Saalfelden, Hintermoos, Dienten, Mühlbach and Hinterthal, which all can be skied with the same lift pass. In addition to this, the Hochkonig’s Winterreich is simply a paradise for skiers and snowboarders, carving or off-piste skiing lovers. The large ski area covering all resorts in the area of Maria Alm, features one ski pass, almost 300 lifts and 865 kilometers of groomed pistes.
There is also a large variety of night activities, such as night sledding on illuminated tracks, romantic rides in a horse-drawn sleigh, candlelight dinners, gatherings and parties at mountain huts, lots of dance and entertainment.
