St Leonhard (~1600 residents) is a popular ski resort at 1370 meters altitude in the upper valley of Pitztal, near the Pitztal glacier, which provides visitors with unlimited skiing fun. Other activities of interest here include hiking and climbing tours in the Wildspitze area (3774 meters), mountain biking, etc. The highest mountain railway in Austria gets the visitors up to an elevation of 3440 meters above the sea, where one is able to enjoy some fantastic views of the Alpine scenery. Ice climbing trips are also very popular in the resort of St Leonhard. The Pitztal Glacier and Rifflsee skiing and hiking areas offer great opportunities for the sports and nature lovers. From the highest gondola in Austria, travellers can have some stunning, panoramic views from 3440 meters, which is simply a unique experience. There are 150 kilometers of summer hiking trails, free bus, Pitzi's Kinderclub, numerous mountain biking trails, ice safari, and many more attractions and activities. St Leonhard Skiing Holidays
The Austrian resort of St Leonhard offers well-groomed runs, Fun Parks with halfpipes and guaranteed and excellent snow conditions from the autumn to the late spring for skiers and snowboarders. St Leonhard Transportation
The nearest airport to the resort is this in Innsbruck (~80 km, approximately one hour drive), which makes St Leonhard a preferred ski resort for weekend trips and short family holidays.
Other nearby airports from where once can continue by train include Salzburg (245 km), Munich (210 km) and Zurich (310 km).
By train one can travel via Innsbruck or Landeck to the Imst - Pitztal train station and from there to continue the 30 km to St. Leonhard on bus or taxi.
