The resort of Hermagor is encircled by mountains and hills, set in the middle of the beautiful Gailtal. The Pressegger See is the jewel of Hermagor, as well as one of the warmest (up to 28 degrees C. in summer) swimming lakes with drinking quality of the water in Carinthia province. Mostly responsible for the cleanliness of the Pressegger Lake, is the fact that no motor boats are allowed here.
Of course not only the water sport enthusiasts are blessed in Hermagor, but it is also great place for the hiking lovers, with four hundred kilometers of well marked hiking paths of all difficulty levels in the valley and in the higher areas; secured climbing trails invite one to experience an exciting peak victories and spectacular panorama views.
Annually, the residents of Hermagor arrange a great party, called the bacon party. The entertainment program ensures good variety, and the musicians provide the crowd with enough swing after ample enjoyment of bacon.
Hermagor Skiing Holidays
During the winter, there is also great entertainment at the ski arena - one surely can have a plenty of fun in the biggest ski area of Carinthia with thirty cableways and ski lifts and over one hundred kilometers of pistes from all difficulty levels. With the new Millenium - Express, skiers and snowboarders are being easily transported from Troepolach into the skiing area. The 7,6 kilometers long valley run Carnia was constructed, while building the Millenium-Express, and offers three hundred kilometers of excellent piste network, as well as sledding, ice skating on the Pressegger Lake and romantic trips.
