Gosau (~2000 residents) is a beautiful small resort situated at 767 meters above the sea level. Travellers who come in Gosau for first time will be overwhelmed by the impressive beauty of the nature in the area and the majestic mountains encircling the village. The resort offers good choice of hotels, ski chalets and other accommodation, as well as a number of tourist attractions not only during the winter but in any season. The Gosau valley keeps many geological treasures of interest and is also geology museum. Another place of interest in the area is the romantic Lockernmoos mountain lake.
Gosau Skiing Holidays
The Austrian ski resort of Gosau is part of the Dachstein skiing area and has access to a number of different difficulty level pistes. In addition to the snow sports on Gosau’s slopes, the appropriate Lift Pass will allow one to enjoy winter sports and in the other resorts of Dachstein such as Abtenau, Annaberg, Bad Ischl, Obertraun and Russbach.
Gosau has a playground snow park which would be of interest for the snowboarders and free riders. The modern Snowpark is an excellent place to develop and improve new skills and tricks and to have some great fun even during the night. Artificial snowmaking supplements the snow base at Gosau if needed – there are 35 snow cannons covering fifty-two kilometers of ski pistes. The ten lifts of Gosau are able to take up the mountains 35000 skiers and snowboarders per hour.
Gosau Transportation
The nearest airports are these in Salzburg and Linz/Horsching. By train one can use a rail service to Steeg Gosau – ten kilometers from Gosau. Alternatively way via train is to Golling – thirty kilometers from Gosau.
By car: Salzburg - Golling – Abtenau, then via B166 to Gosau; or from Linz - A1 Regau - Bad Ischl – Gosau.
