BAD AUSSEE - HOTELS & TOURIST INFORMATION
|
In the geographical centre of Austria, lying between the Dachstein Massif and the mighty range of the Dead Mountains, one will find the Ausseerland – Salzkammergut holiday area with the town of Bad Aussee and the villages of Altaussee, Grundlsee, Bad Mitterndorf, Pichl– Kainisch and Tauplitz. The town consists of 5037 inhabitants and is situated at an altitude between 650 and 1000 meters.
Once a sea, hidden in the Alps, today the sea’s salt water in unison with therapies is essential for the visitors’ well-being. This Alps’ sea bath is only one side of the holiday pleasures in Ausseer. Year after year a plenty of cultural events take place here. Many artists consider this place their home and one can follow their art on the Via Artis.
You can spend not only your summer holidays in Bad Aussee. Mountain springs and the clear, fresh wintertime are also an outstanding experience, especially because of some festivals like Daffodil festival. During the autumn and winter one can spend some unforgettable moments while hiking. It is best to explore Bad Aussee on foot - walking along the Traun river, visiting the spa garden, which is now on the place of the old times salt pans, or through the streets full of shops, where the homemade variety of products triumphs over the monotony of international production. Handicraft is still alive in the Ausseerland – Salzkammergut region and one can leave with great handworks.
Some of the activities here include hiking, fishing, Alpine curling, hang-gliding, ice skating, cycling, paragliding, golf, hunting, canoeing/kayaking and climbing. Also available are rafting, mountain biking, horse riding, sailing, swimming, windsurfing, diving, trekking, etc.
