ZWETTL - HOTELS & TOURIST INFORMATION

In the heart of the Waldviertel, the brewing and Kuenringer town Zwettl is embedded into five gently rolling hills around the mouth of the river Zwettl. The town is situated at an elevation of 520 meters and has almost 12 000 residents.
Various Baroque and Renaissance buildings, towers and countless sights tell one the history of the town. Zwettl has a nice, cozy atmosphere and makes one’s visit a special experience.
The surroundings along many hiking and cycling paths are also interesting experience-mystical granite stone buildings hidden in the woods, marvelous meadows, corn, poppy and rape fields dominate the landscape.

In addition to the numerous cultural sights, a large number of leisure, sport and recreational facilities are at your disposal, everything easily accessible through public transport. One will find great hiking and cycling paths for kids as well as adults past blossoming meadows, dark woods to the hidden, mysterious places.
Bathing pleasure for the whole family is provided by the nicely situated sun bath in the Kamptal valley, the reservoir Ottenstein with all its bays and the new and modernly equipped open air bath.
Other sports and activities available here include Fishing, Archery, Ice Skating, Cycling, Golf, Hunting, Canoeing/Kayaking, Climbing, Mountain Biking, Horseback Riding, Sailing, Nordic Skiing, Windsurfing etc.
The nearest airport is Airport Vienna – Schwechat, which is about 120 kilometers away from Zwettl. By train one can get there using the Vienna Franz-Josefs-Station - change in Schwarzenau Lower Austria – Zwettl line. However, maybe most convenient is getting there by car, not only from inside Austria, but also from the neighboring countries.
