Werfenweng has a lot to offer during the winter season - there are some great cross country skiing tracks, one Gondola ropeway (IKARUS), two double chairlifts, seven T-bar lifts, and the new lift on Ladenberg; also natural half pipe, funpark, two ski schools.
There is also Ice skating available on the Wengsee Lake, sledding, sled-dog racing, curling and more. The cable way IKARUS takes one to an elevation of 1883 meters, where one can enjoy mountain activities such as hiking, skiing, paragliding, snowboarding, etc. The cosy town of Werfenweng has six runs for beginners, ten for advanced, one run for the expert skiers.
The 2 ski schools and ski kindergarten provide with courses for all ski levels, as well as with child supervision at lunch time.
The most popular day trips in the area of Werfenweng include, the Fun Water World, the Thermal Spas at Bad Gastein and Bad Hofgastein, the museums of Natural History (in Salzburg) and this of Regional History, the Salt mine (Salzwelten). Also a highly recommended is a trip to the Salzburg museum of skiing (Salzburger Landes-Skimuseum). This unique museum follows the ski-history for over five thousand years.

By air
The nearest airports to Werfenweng are these in Salzburg (45 kilometers), in Linz (180 kilometers) and in Vienna-Schwechat (330 km).
By train
Trains are the easiest and most convenient way to get to the beautiful town of Werfenweng. There are trains from all over Europe to the Bischofshofen railway station.
By car
If travelling from Salzburg or Munich, one should get via motorway Tauernautobahn (A10) and exit Werfen, through Imlau, then head left to Werfenweng, which is only on six km from there.
If coming from Villach, again via Tauernautobahn motorway (A10) and exit Pfarrwerfen/Werfen, then take a right turn to Werfenweng – four kilometers.
