The Austrian resort of Russbach is a picturesque small mountain village with 800 residents, nicely situated between Dachstein and Tennengebirge. Russbach is very popular with its outstanding fossils area, which attracts a number of tourists each year. There are guided tours available for the visitors to the valley of fossils.
The Dachstein West ski area connects the resort of Russbach with the nearby villages of Gosau and Annaberg, Rußbach has some good hotels and ski chalets on offer, but mostly concentrate on the private accommodation and family facilities. Russbach is a gate to the Salzkammergut and a great entry to the skiing area, suitable for all ability levels. The cultural center of Salzburg is only on around fifty kilometers away from the village.
Russbach Skiing Holidays
Rußbach itself has sixty five kilometers of skiable terrain, but as a part of the Dachstein West skiing area, with the appropriate lift pass one can easily go ski or snowboard on around ninety individual runs in the surrounding ski resorts of Abtenau, Annaberg, Gosau, Obertraun, etc.
The skiing is at relatively low altitude, so snow cover can be variable.
Fifteen kilometers of Russbach’s ski pistes are served by twenty snow cannons when needed to ensure good skiing conditions. The 14 lifts of the resort have capacity to uplift 65000 persons per hour. The fun park at Rußbach - Rookie Park at Horn nursery lift has rails and obstacles for free style riders and snowboarders.
Russbach Transportation
The nearest airports to Russbach are these in Vienna and Salzburg.
By train one can get to Golling (Steeg) and from there continue by buss to the resort.
By car via A 10 Tauern motorway, take the Golling exit or via A 1 Westautobahn motorway take the Regau / Gmunden exit through Bad Ischl and Gosau. |
