The Austrian ski village of Oberau is situated at 940 meters above the sea and is part of the Wildschonau skiing region with access to 65 kilometers of ski runs. The resort of Oberau itself provides with snowsports on eight slopes, but the appropriate lift pass will give one access to skiing and snowboarding in the entire Wildschonau skiing area. Oberau is a small and quiet resort, but the lifts and the free bus service links it with the other Wildschönau villages not only for snow sports, but for some great après ski as well. Oberau has some very good hotels for its visitors, as well as ski chalets and other accommodation on offer.
Oberau Skiing Holidays
Snow sports on Oberau’s pistes are mostly suitable for the beginners and intermediates, but the dense network of lifts allow experts to visit more difficult slopes in the area.
Twenty-five kilometers of the ski pistes are served by 25 cannons for artificial snow.
The five lifts of the resort have capacity of 30000 riders per hour. Cross country skiers can roam across fifty kilometers of great trails. Ski touring with a guide from the ski schoolis popular among the first-time visitors. The easy ski terrain is suitable for family holidays and tours.
Oberau Apres Ski
Après ski lovers are likely to prefer the nearby resort of Niederau which is the liveliest in the area. The Dorfstub'n Fun-Pub there has great dancing and live entertainment every Sunday and the café at the Simmerlwirt is also very lively and pleasant spot, with live music performances from time to time.
Oberau Transportation
There are 3 airports in around couple of hours drive, so family ski weekends in Oberau and Niederau are popular. The airports of Innsbruck and Munich are just on 1 hour by car.
