Kleinwalsertal Austria

Kleinwalsertal is an Austrian tourist region, but it is separated from Austria with a mountainous terrain and is accessible by car only from Germany. There are around five thousand residents on an area of 97 square kilometers and approximately twelve thousand tourist beds. Surrounded by magnificent mountains, the valley is only accessible from Austria from really fit hikers. Kleinwalsertal includes the resorts of Mittelberg, Riezlern, Hirschegg and the smallest - Baad. Kleinwalsertal is a popular tourist destination in Austria, and annually attracts lots of visitors in both summer and winter season.
Walser valley is situated from an elevation of 1100 to 1250 meters above the sea level, but the higher slopes of the surrounding mountains are famous among the skiers and snowboarders. Kleinwalsertal - Mittelberg / Riezlern Skiing Holidays

The Kleinwalsertal skiing region is interlinked with the German ski resort of Oberstdorf. The area features fifty kilometers of winter walks, eight ski schools, 3 kindergartens, and 50 km of cross-country skiing trails. The Kleinwalsertal ski area provides its visitors with direct access to eighty kilometers of downhill pistes and sixty-five individual ski runs, accessed by thirty-two lifts, which could take up the slopes 25 000 persons/hour. Five kilometers of the ski slopes here are served by nineteen snow cannons for artificial snow making. The Kleinwalsertal ski area has a Fun Park with half and quarter pipes, barrels, slides, fun-boxes, etc.

Riezlern Hotels & Holidays

Riezlern (1086 meters) lies at the beginning of Walser valley and includes the Egg, Wald, Unterwestegg and Schwende areas.
Similar to Mittelberg, the resort of Riezlern is also being dominated by an old parish church - Maria Opferung. Riezlern has a free swimming pool and the Kanzelwandbahn. Mittelberg (1215 meters) is the name of the whole municipality and is also the first settlement here. Mittelberg also includes the Stutze, Schwendle, Tobel, Bodmen and Hoefle areas. 
There is a great parish church on top of the village - St Jodok. Mittelberg has an indoor tennis court and there is also an icerink in Bodmen.

The nearest airports are Munich II (~ 2 hours), Stuttgart (~ 2.5 hours) and Zurich (~ 2.5 hours).
As mentioned above, because of the mountainous surroundings, there is no direct access by car to Kleinwalsertal from Austria. If traveling by car, one can reach the villages of Mittelberg and Riezlern via the German resort of Oberstdorf.
From Germany on can get here via Kempten - Immenstadt - Sonthofen - Oberstdorf – Kleinwalsertal.
From Austria via the city of Innsbruck - Fern pass / Reutte - Oberjoch - Sonthofen - Oberstdorf – Kleinwalsertal.
One can also reach Kleinwalsertal by frequent buses from the train station of Oberstdorf / Allgau.
