Gerlos is located at 1 250 meters above the sea level, has around 880 inhabitants and is in close proximity to ski slopes a river and a lake. It is situated in the so called “valley of thousand mountains” Zillertal and offers numerous opportunities for a great vacation.

For the nature lovers there are more than 200 kilometers of marked and maintained hiking paths in the area. They are suitable for various difficulties. The hiking paths in the Zillertal Valley have a total length of 850 kilometers. Except hiking, you can just stroll around the tranquil region or go climbing and mountaineering on one of the 3 000 meters high mountains around. You can explore the valley and the surrounding mountains on foot by going from one hut to the other. Other available sports include cycling, mountain biking, rafting, Western riding, tennis, squash and more. There are 232 kilometers of mountain biking trails, easily reachable from Gerlos and Zell. There are also lifts with which you can transport a bike for free. You can also practice water sports like swimming, sailing, windsurfing and boating in the Durlassboden reservoir. This is a place many people use for escaping the summer heat. You can receive windsurfing and sailing training there. Rafting is also available on some beautiful natural places, far from the civilization. You can get further information from the tourist office in Gerlos.
A new attraction in the resort is the high-rope park. In it you can exercise different acrobatics on 15 high elements under professional guidance.
In Gerlos there is available a health program which through activeness around the beautiful mountains aims to better the health. It offers hiking along easy paths as well as not complicated physical exercises.
There are also children’s programs available during the summer and early autumn which will enable you to get the rest you need.
Gerlos has also an attractive cultural life. There are many concerts, summer festivals, hut gatherings and more. The pubs, restaurants and bars guarantee an enjoyable nightlife.

Gerlos Transportation

There are 3 airports in close proximity to the resort of Gerlos. Munich Airport is 208 kilometers away, Salzburg 180 kilometers away and Innsbruck – only 85 kilometers away.
From Munich you can take a train to Jenbach, passing through Kufstein. From there you can reach Zell am Ziller via bus or the Zillertalbahn. To Gerlos from there, there is a postal bus. Another alternative is taking a taxi from Jenbach or Zell am Ziller.
By car from Munich you should follow the A12 through Kufstein to the exit Zillertal. Then take B169 to Zell am Ziller and turn left to Gerlos. You can also reach Gerlos from Strass (around 40 kilometers) or through the Achenpass.
