Filzmoos is an alpine village at 1057 meters elevation, with around 1350 inhabitants and offers a very traditional Austrian feel. It is dominated by the Bishofsmutze twin peaked mountain and has eight lifts and seventeen ski slopes as well as seven cross country loipes available. A great advantage for the more capable skiers, the Ski Amade lift pass covers twenty-five villages on the lift pass, totaling around 900 kilometers of skiing in 25 resorts including Flachau, Zauchensee and Schladming.
Filzmoos is a really the place where winter dreams come true – the resort offers everything the winter sports enthusiasts can possibly dream of: ski-in/ski-out convenience, wide pistes and heaps of snow. Filzmoos has its own Alpine school for budding climbers as well as three ski schools and several skis hire shops.
Additionally, in January each year a week-lasting International balloon festival take place in the village of Filzmoos.
