The tranquil and picturesque Goisern valley stretches from the town of Hallstatt in the south to the ski resort of Bad Ischl in the north. The village of Bad Goisern (8462 residents) is located at 504 meters elevation on the riverside and is preferred destination for many hikers.

By train one can get to Bad Goisern:
From Vienna: via Linz - Attnang-Puchheim - Bad Goisern.
From Graz: Bruck/Mur - with change at Stainach-Irdning - Bad Goisern
From Hamburg: via the Prinz Eugen or Donaukurier train, which has to be changed in Wels and Attnang-Puchheim.
By car:

From Vienna: via Linz and Passau-Wels, take the exit Regau, then Traunsee - Bad Ischl.
From Graz: via Liezen and Bad Aussee.
