ALTENMARKT IN pONGAU - HOTELS & TOURIST INFORMATION

Altenmarkt in Pongau pretty is a traditional winter resort with a moderate skiing area which is best suitable for beginners and intermediates. The ski pistes offer some great panoramic views over Altenmarkt and nearby village of Radstadt. The resort’s skiing area is particularly attractive to families and novices as it has many easy and nursery runs at the lift stations. The Konigslehen eight-person cable-car in Radstadt will take one quickly to the top of the mountain. Altenmarkt is also very popular with its cycling routes along Enns cycling trail to Flachau, Gasthofalm in Flachauwinkel, to Radstadt, Schladming and Eben im Pongau.
These are also suitable for children as well as many of the hiking trails around Altenmarkt. The resort provides with good hotel accommodation, as well as with ski chalets, apartment rental and private lodging.

Altenmarkt Skiing Holidays

The Austrian winter resort of Altenmarkt has around dozen ski slopes itself, but as a part of the Salzburger Sportwelt Skiing Area one can reach over one hundred individual runs in the nearby ski resorts of Filzmoos, Flachau,  Radstadt, Zauchensee, etc. The ski resort has facilities for artificial snow – there are fifteen snow cannons ready to support the snow base on the pistes when needed. The nine lifts of the village have capacity of 12000 skiers per hour.

Altenmarkt Transportation

The nearest airport is this in Salzburg, which is only seventy kilometers away (less than a hour drive). By train one can get to Altenmarkt train station via Salzburg, Bischofshofen or Graz, Radstadt. By car one can get to the resort via A10 highway - Bischofshofen where take the Altenmarkt exit; or also through the Selztal valley - Schladming – Altenmarkt.
